Battling the Binkie

Ryker has been hooked on the pacifier from birth and Michael an dI have been trying to decide when an dhow to get him off of his dependence on it. While we were in California we had lunch with some old friends, Brad and Reiko Lamb, Brad was telling Michael that if you screw the pacifier to teh wall at the kids' height they can still suck in it whenever they want but they have to keep their nose to the wall, which will eventually make the kid realize it's not worth suckin gon at all. SO on tuesday we took Ryker's paci and screwed it to the wall, he thought it was so funny and just laughed at it, he does go to it and suck on it every now and then but I still give him a pacifier to sleep with, I'm not ready to listen to him crying himself to sleep! anyway here are some funny pictures of the paci on the wall.

lol that is great. with Joe I was grumpy and took it away. with christina I cut the tip off and gave it to her so could have it all she wanted but she really could suck it a whole lot. You just keep cutting it shorter and shorter until its all gone. Good luck.

Michael is out of sight out of mind except when it comes to sleeping. He'll ask for it then. I don't mind giving it to him to help him sleep. I've never heard of that technique, so funny! Good luck!

That is really funny! I love the pictures too. You'll have to let us know how it works out.

That is hilarious! We are trying to get Alia addicted to the paci. If she does she'll be the first of my kids to take one, but I've already been thinking of ways to get her weaned from it when the time comes. I like this method. Kurt said put hot sauce on it. A typical kurt thing to say but I've also heard to cut of the tip little by little. Let us know if screwing it to the wall worked!

Oh, my! You guys really did it, how funny is that!??!?! Good luck, I hope it's working for you guys. You know, it hurts to hear your own child cry to sleep, but they have to eventually learn how to soothe themselves to sleep. It's also important for you to not to feel bad either. Just do whatever feels right. They are only little for so long and they only want to be held while they are young. Good luck with your next one. The crib bumper and the quilt is so cute. I hope you have a girl so that you can use them. Girl outfits are so dang cute too! Keep us posted;)

LOL - that is so funny! And that he actually sucks on it at the wall - oh my!! I have to wean Maizer of the thumb. It is rough cause I can't cut that off and screw it to the wall. Well, I guess technically I could but that doesn't sound fun at all. :) Anyway, he always has his hands in his mouth. Hannah was never like that. I wonder if this next one will have an addiction of some kind. :) Take care!

Too cute! I miss you! AND I'm so excited you are expecting your third! I so hope it's a girl too! That bedding is adorable! Great job! Can you tell me how you made the bumper? I'm trying to make bedding for our little guy on the way, and I'm not so sure about the whole bumper thing! Yours looks great!
